Kababaihang Rizalista, Inc., Hamburg Chapter

In 1958, Dr. Severina Luna Orosa, a Filipino physician, civic worker and nationalist, strongly motivated by the belief that women can contribute much to the development of society, organized her women friends into a socio-civic group known as the Kababaihang Rizalista. The organization was soon after officially recognized and allowed to hold its first national convention by the Order of the Knights of Rizal. By April 29, 1959, the Kababaihang Rizalista was incorporated.

From the small group of twenty women, the organization expanded into a big group with chapters opening both in the Philippines and in other countries like Canada, the United States, Belgium and Germany. It has continued to work in close coordination with the Order of the Knights of Rizal in upholding the memory of the national hero and propagating his ideals, teachings and virtues. It has also remained a civic, patriotic, cultural, non-sectarian, non-partisan and non-racial organization.

The Kababaihang Rizalista, Inc., Hamburg Chapter is the only existing chapter in Germany to date. Its founder, Lady Ophelia A. Gonzales, then Philippine Consul General in Hamburg, presided over the organizational meeting on May 4, 2001, during which the officers were elected. The formal induction ceremonies of the 12 charter members, officiated by Lady Jane Mushake, Europe Council Chairman, were held on June 9 of the same year. On December 9, 2001, 11 new members were inducted into the Chapter, followed by another two on December 14, 2002.

During its general assembly  on October 27, 2001, the Chapter ratified its Constitution and By-Laws. On March 2, 2002, a resolution establishing definite standards for the recruitment of new members to the Chapter was approved.
